What is Formation Skydiving - FS?
When you jump and fly with others, you are in what is called a formation skydive.

Formation Skydive is usually associated with a belly to earth orientation type of jump, but the same principles apply when jumping on a vertical orientation with others (Head-Up, Head-Down) and even while Tracking, where the speeds greatly increase.

Therefore learning and developing a good and solid base in formation skydiving while in a belly to earth position will provide you with the necessary skill set for you to then further develop your skills in other types of flying.

The skills to fly with others

FS Training
We will start by jumping in a one-on-one scenario and focus on developing a strong base on group skydiving skills.

All the learning process is based on having Safety on the top of our list.

During this time, together we will develop the knowledge needed to plan and execute a Formation Skydive.

There is not a specific, or concrete, set number of jumps needed, but it can vary from 3 to 10, depending on each individual's skill set and learning requirements.

With this training you will be able to obtain, for example, your DFU (Danish) FS-Udtjek Stamp, and the needed skills for both the USPA and FAI A-Licenses.
Developed FS Skills
During this training we will work on developing the following set of skills:

  • Able to perform different types of exits (inside, outside, gripped, no grip)

  • Slow and Fast Fall Rate

  • Move on the horizontal axis (forward, backward and sideways)

  • Pivoted turns (the arms only play a small part in this)

  • Approach and dock with other skydivers

  • Dive and approach a formation - Swoop to Dock

  • Fly with a formation

  • Break-off ( Track away from a formation)
